How We Got Started

Starting your own home based business can be scary, especially if you want to do it full time. Quitting your full time job to pursue your passion at home has its ups and downs for sure! Gardening is Our Passion!

My wife and I met in October of 2011 and we've been together ever since. We both shared so many of the same interests. Of the many interests we shared gardening was a passion for us both. We tended to our trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetable garden with such enjoyment until one day I asked her "why don't we start a little side business with our plants?" We both agreed that is sounded like a good idea, and that it could become a full time business as we approached retirement.

Make Sure you are Ready!

One of the many things we decided about our new business venture was to pay as we go, and not go into debt to start the business. We checked our local and state laws regarding growing plants in our backyard. We researched several business plans, and adopted a plan that has proven successful. For us we decided to propagate and sell non-copyrighted plants.

Never propagate or sell copyrighted plants!

Make sure to grow plants that hardy in your region. Although mother nature does most of the work you will have to commit some of your time during the year to planting, potting, selling, propagating, and cleaning up. So make sure your up to it! We rarely pay for any social media nor websites. The internet provides many free options. We post all of our sales on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I must admit that occasionally we will pay around $25 for advertising on Facebook which by far has helped us with our sales. So our advice is not to jump right in but take time to put together a plan, see if it is really something you want to do, can you invest just a little to begin with? Answer all of these questions first!!!
